The School of Nursing offers four distinct pathways to BSN degree. These include our Traditional Prelicensure BSN, the flexible 100% online RN to BSN, and our innovative Veteran’s Access Program (VAP) for military-affiliated students. Beginning Fall 2025, we’re excited to introduce the UNC System’s first Direct Admission program for the Prelicensure BSN degree for eligible first-year students. Graduates are equipped to function both independently and collaboratively within the healthcare system, delivering evidence-based nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities.

Interested in Changing Your Major to Nursing?
To pursue the nursing major, students must meet specific eligibility requirements. Therefore, incoming students cannot initially select nursing as their major, nor can students change their major to nursing independently. All students interested in the nursing major will be designated as Pre-Health within the School of Health and Human Sciences and tracked as “Health Professions Exploration” students. Each student will be assigned to an advisor within either the School of Nursing or the School of Health and Human Sciences. The nursing major can only be initiated by the School of Nursing Office of Student Success once students are formally admitted to the major through a competitive application process.

NOTICE:
The U.S. Department of Education requires that all higher education institutions advise students as to whether their curriculum provides them with the eligibility to apply for a professional license and /or certification in the state for which they plan to practice.
As such, please review UNC Greensboro’s status by state for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. You should note whether the program either “meets”, “does not meet”, or if there “has not been a determination” of the program’s status in the state for which you plan to practice. You should contact the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Yvonne Eaves at ydeaves@uncg.edu, with any questions regarding this data.
