Areas of Research Interest

Dr. Susan Letvak has over twenty years of experience conducting research on the health and safety of the nursing workforce, including quality and safety of patient care. She has methodologic expertise in qualitative and mixed methods research. Her research has been funded by the American Nurses Foundation, the CCI Foundation, the NIH and Robert Woods Johnson Foundation. As a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves, Dr. Letvak serves on the Expert Panel for Military and Veterans Health for the American Academy of Nursing. She is also a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association and serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Holistic Nursing. Additionally, she is a member of the American Nurses Association, North Carolina Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and Southern Nursing Research Society.
