Area of Expertise

Developing and testing nurse-led interventions that promote the self-care behaviors of older adults with heart failure and understanding the accuracy of practitioners’ diagnosis of NYHA Functional Classification in adults with heart failure.

Areas of Research Interest

To explore, develop, and test ways to help older adults take partnership in managing the self-care of their chronic illness and to improve their psychological outcomes and quality of life;
Research has been funded to test the accuracy of practitioners’ diagnosis of NYHA Functional Classification in patients with heart failure; instrument development to improve accuracy of NYHA Functional Classification diagnosis in patients with heart failure.
Recognized as a Fellow of the American Heart Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing for her contribution to cardiovascular nursing science.
