Applicants must hold a baccalareate degree in nursing from an accredited program and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. For the MSN degree, a satisfactory score must be achieved on the Graduate Record Exam or Miller Analogies Test taken within 5 years. For the MSN/MBA degree, a satisfactory score must be achieved on the Graduate Management Aptitude Test or the Graduate Record Exam. One year of full-time experience as a registered nurse is preferred; nurse anesthesia students must have a minimum of one year recent critical care nursing experience. An inferential statistics course and basic health assesment course are required prerequisite courses

A secondary application process is required for the Nurse Anesthesia Concetration Call the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia at 336-716-1411 and or the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia at 919/250-9740 for information and an application. Completed applications should be returned to the UNCG Graduate School and the School of Anesthesia by September 1 for consideration for acceptance in the fall semester of the following year.
Prior to enrolling in the nursing curriculum, students must provide evidence of current unrestricted North Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or RN licensure in a state convered by the multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact. Prior to enrollment in NUR541 and all 600 level nursing courses, students must provide evidence of current CPR certification. Students in the anesthesia concentration also must provide evidence of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). All students are required to complete a criminal background check. Additionally, students enrolled in the above courses must provide evidence of all immunizations identified on Parts A and B of the UNCG Health History and Immunization Form excluding the Meningococcal vaccine. Students should provide evidence of nursing licensure and CPR to the School of Nursing Graduate Program Assistant and evidence of health history and immunizations to the UNCG Student Health Services. Copies of all records should be retained by the student. Health insurance is required for all students enrolling in six or more credits each semester.
For all Master's programs of study, you will need to provide evidence of undergraduate level health assessment and a statistics course that includes inferential statistics. The suggested course at UNCG for fulfilling health assessment is NUR371. Courses at UNCG that will fulfill the inferential statistics requirement include ECO250, STA271, STA352, MBA 600 and PSY310. Additional statistics courses statewide that fulfill the requirement include, but are not limited to, STA311 - an online course at NC State, Math316 at Gardner Webb, Math 151 or Math 155 in the North Carolina Community Colleges, and MATH2326 at WSSU. Additionally, anesthesia nursing students need evidence of an undergraduate chemistry course.

The School of Nursing offers several graduate assistantships funded at $7,500 per year. Students assist faculty with teaching and research for ten hours per week. Applications may be obtained from the Director of Graduate Study.
